06 Mar JEP SUPPORTS JCDT’s SYMPHONY IN THE MOUNTAINS
JEP’s Assistant Analyst Annmarie Hyman presents JCDT’s Executive Director Dr. Susan Otuokon with JEP’s contribution in support of the John Crow Mountains National Park 25th Anniversary; and JCDT’s upcoming Symphony in the Mountains.
The Jamaica Conservation Development Trust (JCDT) is an environmental NGO that has the responsibility to protect the country’s forests. For over twenty years, JEP has been supporting the group by providing funding as well as guidance from a business perspective.
Additionally, employees of JEP visit the Holywell Recreational Park, located just below the Blue Mountain Peak, once annually to plant trees as part of their reforestation efforts. The Park itself was labelled a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017, which highlights the fact that its preservation is critical.
Our President and CEO, Wayne McKenzie, is a board member of the NGO and offers support by providing business intelligence. His philosophy is that once a group operates as a business, the more sustainable they will be.
JCDT’s first paid event for 2018, Symphony in the Mountains, is a concert which features popular bands and celebrities. JEP supports this as well as other events used to raise funds to assist with operating the park.
