01 Mar JEP Celebrates 19 Years of Sponsoring the St Catherine Cricket Association!
Jamaica Energy Partners created even more impact in the parish of St Catherine, this time in the sporting arena. The St Catherine Cricket Association received J$950,000 to host the JEP Cricket League this year.
This month we joined the Association at the Windalco Sports Club for the opening match and “bowl-off” of the Cricket League. The League, which runs for 6 months, comprises of 660 players, ages 13-50 years old. Each player, including the ones that attend school, play on a part-time basis and also receive opportunities to move from this tournament to various categories in Jamaican cricket. These include the under 16 and under 19 national teams, as well as franchises such as Tallawahs and Titans.
This year marks a significant accomplishment for the cricket competition, which is an important part of JEP’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Portfolio. For close to two decades, the company has been contributing to the growth of the sport and has witnessed the development of local players such as Andre Russell, Nkrumah Bonner and Shakar Thomas, who have represented us locally, regionally and internationally. JEP recognizes the importance of such sporting events and continues to be a pillar within the communities and a source of encouragement for our youth.
