Take Two: Forest Trek!

Take Two: Forest Trek!

In commemoration of their 80th anniversary, the Forestry Department hosted two Forest Treks in 2018. In March, JEP’s trekkers hiked over 18 km in Portland, Jamaica. The second trek took place in November in the Bogue 2 Forest Reserve in St. Ann, which was a 10km distance. Arguably the best trek ever, our journey was educational, fun, and picturesque, as it was intercepted by numerous rivers and streams of exceptional beauty.

The Bogue 2 Forest Reserve is one of the many protected forests in Jamaica and is home to several indigenous as well as imported plant species. It is located just above the world-renowned Dunn’s River Falls.
