WKPP TO HOST INAUGURAL ENERGY DEBATING COMPETITION

WKPP TO HOST INAUGURAL ENERGY DEBATING COMPETITION

Over the past five years, WKPP has dedicated considerable resources and efforts focused on the well-being and academic advancement of our nation’s youth. This year, the company continues upholding its commitment and relentlessly pursues new strategies and programmes that will uplift, impact, and shape the future of our students.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility portfolio, WKPP will host its inaugural Energy Debating Competition in September. The tournament comprises eight secondary schools from the Western Kingston Division who will vie for first place by articulating various arguments on topics regarding the energy sector.

WKPP and its partners have the pleasure and responsibility to expose students to topics within the energy sector to influence career choice; increase knowledge of factors surrounding energy generation and distribution, and to demonstrate the importance of energy as the driving force of any economy.

JMG Communications has provided WKPP with the guidance necessary to plan and execute this debating competition, which includes:

  • Drafting of various moots
  • Coordination with schools
  • Emcee scripts
  • Logistics

The competition is slated to be launched on September 20, 2018, at WKPP. The competition commences on October 4 and will end on October 18.

WKPP has solicited an endorsement from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Mining. We anticipate a successful competition this year and look forward to partnering with JEP on this initiative in 2019.
