JEP CELEBRATES OVER 20 YEARS OF CONTRIBUTING TO JET AND THE SCHOOLS’ ENVIRONMENT PROGRAMME

Executive Director of the Jamaica Environment Trust Suzanne Stanley, proudly displays her sponsorship from JEP in support of JET’s Schools’ Environment Programme.

Nationally renowned NGO, the Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) has been arduously involved with preserving the natural resources in Jamaica as well as creating awareness about improper garbage disposal.

The Group has circumvented several government proposals regarding the use of our natural resources for commercial gains. The Goat Island Transhipment Hub as well as the development of mining bauxite in one of Jamaica’s largest forests, the Cockpit Country, were challenged; labeled by JET as environmentally destructive, these projects were subsequently rejected.

JEP has been an active supporter of JET for over twenty years, which speaks to JET’s resilience, and donates annually to the Schools’ Environment Programme (SEP). The SEP challenges schools in the island to develop various environmental systems that promote the conservation of water and energy, as well as recycling.

JEP’s Chief Technical Officer, Cecil Gordon sits on the Board of JET and is actively involved in directing and executing various environmental campaigns.
